A - Agnes' Restaurant
Agnes’s Restaurant
“You can get anything you want at Agnes’ Restaurant”
(The
restaurant isn’t really called “Agnes’ Restaurant”; it’s
called “Etnia’s”. Agnes owns and operates it, though, so we
just call it “Agnes’”.)
Since
many of our days start at Agnes’, making this the topic of my first
A-to-Z post just seems appropriate.
Agnes’
place isn’t a full-on restaurant; it’s actually more of a coffee
house. It does have a kitchen where Agnes does her magic. I usually
have my “big breakfast” (eggs, bacon and french toast with juice)
while Emily has either a fruit crepe or granola with fruit.
The
main section has two tables and eight chairs as well as an L-shaped
lounge area. The floors are gravel-covered dirt, the ceiling is
thatch and the walls are are block or planks of wood. It’s next to
where the old fire station used to be (don’t you love directions
like that?), between the stop light and the plazaleta.
For
many expats, it’s a communication hub. We’ll meet there on
various mornings between 10:00a and noon just to share any local news
or to check on people’s well-being. I usually stop in two or three
times a week.
It's a good place to start the day and a good way to kick off the A-to-Z Blog Challenge.

Special
note:
I
started on my topics for the Challenge in February and Agnes had
always been my first subject. I had never intended to use this blog
for solicitation, but I’m making an exception here.
Agnes’
daughter Marylou belongs to a dance school in town, and their team
qualified to compete in Orlando. I’m supplying a link to their
fund-raising site. If nothing else, you can see Agnes’ picture at
the top and a picture of Marylou (top-middle) with her dance team.

Hi Scott - it sounds an ideal place to have in town ... and good to know that you all look out for each other and others in the town - good luck to MaryLou ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteSounds very atmospheric! Best of luck to MaryLou. Happy A-Zing.
